Portmeirion Pottery

Portmeirion Pottery was founded in 1960 by Susan William-Ellis, the daughter of the renowned Sir Clough William-Ellis, who created the Portmeirion village in North Wales. Susan had been working with A E Gray Ltd in Stoke on Trent to produce giftware for the village for a number of years. In 1960 she and her husband bought Grays and a year later Kirkham Pottery.  This was the start of the Portmeirion Potteries. Today they own both Spode and Royal Worcester, which together form The Portmeirion Group.
